ABOUT ME

Why work together?

I'm an end-to-end problem solver

I can identify problems, figure out hypotheses on how to solve them, come up with actionable plans, mobilize team members to support my efforts, execute, and measure the effects of my suggestions.

I take a cross-functional approach in understanding a problem and sniff around “obvious” answers. Low activation rate for an app? I’m curious whether the onboarding sequence is too long, or whether the app landing page is misrepresenting what the actual app is all about, resulting in drop-offs.

I have in-the-trenches experience in design, content, UX, and customer relations

The reason why I can be so precise in training, hiring, and vetting team members is because I have in-depth experience as an individual contributor.

I have touched every written touchpoint from my 7 years as a content marketer - from emails, to PR articles, to long-form technical blogs, to FAQs and knowledge bases, to social media posts.

I have designed landing pages and full websites, as well as smaller design deliverables like pitch decks and flyers. I have created all of these to support my direct communication with stakeholders.

I innately work to accommodate UX and information hierarchy

Interfacing with buyers, users, and stakeholders in different stages of the buyer journey showed me the importance of structuring information and meeting users where they are in terms of their level of investment and interest.

My experience as a founder who-wore-many-hats thrust me in roles where I got to see the direct cause-and-effect of a well-articulated message, targeted interaction VS a general, lukewarm opening.

"Why else would we work together?"

THINGS I'M MOST PROUD OF

Careeer at a glance

GROWING TO $20K MRR

Grew Writrly to 20+ monthly clients, zero client acquisition, 100% referrals. Built trust with existing partners through robust documentation + onboarding.

Partners I've worked with

SCALING A CREATIVE TEAM

Me and my roles

LEARNING DEMAND GEN

Built a partnered artist network of artists with 100k+ followers without a site or a brand - only by A/B testing Instagram messages and consistently improving our pitch deck.

BUILDING A SAAS

Currently working on a mental health SaaS as a personal project. Defined requirements based on key community problems and and designed an MVP around that .

WHAT I LEARNED ALONG THE WAY

Reflections and learnings

On why being community-first always wins

My failed e-commerce brand was a sobering wake-up call to how impenetrable some industries are by SEO alone, and how being community-first is the truly “evergreen” approach to content . If I could do it again, I would focus more on a mix of personal, funny, and young video content featuring a lot of our partnered artists instead of our “cool and interesting” art blogs and weekly artist interviews.

On product-market fit

Launch things in small bites and see what clicks with people.

Even the most well-designed, most well-thought out app/webapp/product in the world is going to fail if no one wants to use it in the first place. Monthly keyword volume and clicks, regardless of volume  ≠ user interest.

On selling yourself

Talk about your experiences - on public platforms. A lot of my credentials are hidden behind Discord, Slack, and email conversations. Sharing successes, learnings, projects publicly, in channels where people already are, is the single most important thing to building career momentum.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT ME

Values that I hope to have

Curiosity: Asking questions, not leaping to assumptions, providing space for others’ thoughts and expressions. Curiosity has had the wonderful side-effect of effective problem-solving and straightforward communication in my life.

Collaboration: I like approaching things from a “my team VS the problem” mindset. Similarly, I don’t believe in pulling a fast one over users or community members. Users are not problems to overcome; I prefer approach it from a “how can I help them” way.

Empathy: I find that meeting people where they are and understanding what their needs might be - whether they’re a customer/user, client, colleague, or trainee - is a great way to build trust and create a sense of community.

My interests & hobbies

🎮 Video games & boardgames

I love role-playing games. I enjoy optimization puzzles and figuring out how to mess with people’s plans (respectfully). I was a huge Pokemon player as a kid, now I enjoy collecting gear in dungeons.

👾 Science Fiction

Currently reading:Eye of the Void, Adrian Tchaikovsky

Gnarliest book I’ve read:The Sparrow, Mary Doria Russell

🌱 Self-development

I use tools like IFS and NVC in my personal life. I enjoy strength training 4-5x a week. I hope to relearn rollerblading again.

🍵 Fude brushes and matcha

I have an excel sheet inventory of my Japanese-made make up brushes. I use my chasen and chawan nearly everyday to whisk myself an iced matcha latte.
